Texting part 2

Here’s another wedding card using the same Text paper and stamp set from yesterday; I think I like this card even better!

The layout of this card is very similar to yesterdays, but I didn’t add as many layers, and used the card base as the background. I really like the feel of the Kraft paper and the text, it feels very ‘shabby chic"’ and I think is very different from some other of my cards…but I love it! I don’t know if I’ll be able to recreate this feeling, or if it was just a fluke, but I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts.

The great thing is that two cards will ever be alike because of the text on the paper.

It’s always more special to have something that’s one of a kind :)

Texting

And not the cell phone kind…although I am a fan of that too.

I’ve always been envious of the effect that text, whether it be a stamp or a page ripped out of a book can add to a card.  I didn’t really think I could adapt it easily into my ‘style’ (which seems to change daily), but I guess it’s all about finding the right text.

I spotted this text-paper at my LSS and loved it immediately. Coincidently, all the text is about love, and I was due to make some wedding cards for the summer.  With a few coordinating pink papers and ribbons, I’m very happy with how the cards turned out.

Here’s the first one I have to share:

Isn’t that paper great?? the entire 12x12 is set up like a dictionary of various words and their meanings, with sayings in between some of the verses.

“Multiply it by infinity. Take it to the depths of forever and you’ll still only have a glimpse of how much I love you”

*swoon*

 

 

 

I used the SU stamp set “To Have and to Hold”, which is my go-to set for wedding cards, I just love it!  The main image of the bride and groom is larger, but I liked the way the small circle looked and the text was highlighted instead of the image.  All the paper is double sided, so the punched flowers show the reverse sides of the DP.  Some satin SU Pretty in Pink ribbon, rhinestones and some pink colouring on the bride’s flowers and it all came together quite nicely!

Tomorrow I’ll share another card featuring the same paper, with some slight variations.

Holy Cow! She finally completed a TTIC Challenge! TTIC 28- The Wedding

I will be the first to admit, I have been totally slacking when it comes to the TTIC challenges…I have missed more than I care to admit (darn ‘real life job’), but I COULD NOT bare to miss this one.  Breaking Dawn was on of my favs in the series, partly because Edward and Bella finally said “I do”.

Margie asked us to focus on the Wedding for this weeks Twilight Tuesday.com challenge and provided us with some inspiration as well with this photo

I know that red, white and black have become the unofficial colours of Twilight, but I don’t picture Edward and Bella’s wedding like this.

I see soft, romantic colours, and I think blue would be a big part of it because Edward loves Bella in blue.  We know that Alice kept roses as part of the theme, and so in creating my piece this week, I knew I was going to use the SU Fifth Avenue rose stamp.

I wanted to do something a little different, and looked around my apartment for inspiration.  I really wanted to make what we Italians call bonboneirri, or the ‘giveaways’ from the wedding.  I may still do that, but I came up with this idea in the meantime.

I created a Unity candle for Edward and Bella.

I followed this very simple tutorial at Splitcoaststampers ; who knew tissue paper, wax paper, stamps and a heat gun is all you need! oh, and  candle of course.

This is another SU stamp, and one that I’ve used before for a TTIC challenge, for a wedding card that I thought Bella would give to Edward. I did think at first to make the candle match the card, but I wasn’t sure white satin ribbon on an ivory candle would look so good.

 

So I used chocolate satin ribbon because I think it goes so well with the blue flowers.

What are your favorite things in a wedding? and/or most memorable ‘in real life’ or movie/tv wedding you’ve ever seen…?

My favourite things in a wedding…I like the tradition of all of it, the exchanging of vows, and rings and seeing the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time.

My most memorable ‘in real life’ wedding would have to be my friends Alison and Jamie’s wedding, last summer; I was a bridesmaid, and it was a great party!

*whispers* although technically, I don’t remember much after dinner….. I told you it was a great party!

A Seal, and the Easter Bunny go to a Wedding and say Thank you?

Bet I caught your attention with that title, eh??

Before you have me committed, I couldn’t think of another way to highlight everything that’s in this post.  And even though it’s Tuesday…there’s no TwilightTuesday.com challenge entry.  Sorry kids, life is just too busy.  The only reason that I found the strength to make what I did tonight was out of sheer necessity.

First up, a Seal Concert recap. In a word: fantastic.  He was incredible, and what a talented artist.  One song after another, taking some time to chat up the crowd and tell a few jokes.  The range of this man’s voice is awesome.  Both my sister and I realized there were so many songs we didn’t know, but were happy to hear almost the entire Soul album.

And you know how there’s always one memorable person in the crowd at a concert                                                                                                                                                                                                 ….well here she is!  ------>

 

There were 3 empty seats in the front row, and Seal said it made him nervous, so the British gentleman he is, he invited 3 staff members to come and sit and enjoy the show.  Unfortunately they had to decline, but this woman was quick to run up to the front and grab a seat.  She was in her own little world and for a little while, I was afraid she would either 1) Jump on stage with Seal or 2) pull him OFF the stage.  She did neither  and Seal was a great sport about it.

Sunday my sister and I did visit the ROM (the Royal Ontario Museum), but I’m saving those pictures for a Foto Friday, so you’ll have to wait for those.

I want to send a thank you card to the Subaru Sales Rep who helped me with my car (it is here and it is fantastic!); he was so helpful, not pushy at all, and even remembered what radio station I listened to on my test drive and had it programmed in my car when I came to pick it up!  I was looking through my cards and realized all my thank you cards were too feminine, so I put one together using this past weeks Taylored Expressions sketch layout.  I had to stop myself from adding ribbon and flowers all over it, that would defeat the whole point! lol

My friend L asked me to make her menu cards for her October wedding.  Here’s  my first prototype,  and I’m not sure if I’ll continue with this design.  Her colours are silver, black and white, but I feel like I need to dress this up some more…any ideas?

 

 

 

I will be printing the menu on the computer, I just hand wrote Menu to fill up the space.  Both L and her fiancee are Italian, so I thought maybe this lyric would be cute on the menu cardI made a tiny ribbon rose but again, I’m just not feeling it.

One more thing to share, now that they’ve arrived safely to their recipient.  I sent these Easter Bunny mini 4x4 cards to Lorrie Veasey as a thank you for giving me the pink elephant (check this post for the whole story).

That’s it for me folks, I likely won’t be posting until Friday,  tomorrow I’ll be on the road all day long, and Thursday I’m heading home to my parents for Easter (another 6 hour drive).

Thursday Sweet Treats: Chocolate Chip, Malted Milk, Raspberry Dream and Chocolate Nougat

A new recipe?  Nope, just a card!  But doesn’t it sound yummy??

This week’s Thursday Sweet Treats’ theme was “Joy of Dance”;  what could be more joyful than the first dance of a bride and groom?

I grabbed my new favourite SU set- To Have and To Hold.  I knew I wanted something rich and elegant, and I’ve been dying to try a new ribbon technique.

I found some beautiful S.E.I. Chocolate Nougat dp (beautiful, sparkly and costly! but so worth it);  I made the card base out of SU Chocolate chip, and framed it Bazzil Raspberry Dream and Malted Milk.  I’m craving dessert now, are you?? 

I had seen the famous Martha make some little roses with ribbon over the Christmas holidays.  I bookmarked it, and set it aside.  And of course, lost the bookmark when my computer crash.  I went searching and was able to find this ribbon rose tutorial here.  This actually seems to be a bit easier than the Martha tutorial, and it worked perfectly.  I used Chocolate satin  5/8” ribbon from Michaels; I tried using my Chocolate Chip ribbon, but because it’s only 3/8”, I wasn’t thrilled with the size of the rose, I wanted it to be bigger.

I loved the lines of the paper and I wanted to keep the card simple, with the focus on the ribbon rose.

For the inside, I knew I had to be careful not to make it too simple, but needed some pizzaz as well. I picked out the flower and flourish stamp from the same set, and coloured the flowers with SU Pretty in Pink, and then SU Purely Pomegranate layered on top.  I added tiny little pearls to each flower.

I was going to stamp “A Promise Made” on the inside, but decided that I didn’t want to crowd it, and decided to leave it blank.

Shakespeare in Love

Here is another card I’ve made with the sticker quotes; while most focus around friendship, there are a few that speak to love.

 

Put on your sunglasses, there’s lots of bling and sparkles on this one!

I used some paper and flowers from my blog candy win c/o TwilightTuesday.com.  Before I put the sticker on the paper, I stamped my Unity stamp swirl with Due Drop Memento Rhubarb Stalk; I love the way that stamp ties into the pattern on the red paper.  I picked some red paper and glittered the edges for the background of the sentiment.  A small rhinestone brad attaches the paper flowers to the satin ribbon. 

I’ll be adding this to my Etsy store later today. 

Today also means another TwilightTuesday.com challenge, I haven’t had a chance to go over and look yet, but I will and will likely post tomorrow.
