Scrapbook tag inspired Valentine’s day cards

Hey folks! It’s been a little crazy around here so I’m behind (again) on blogging.

A few weeks ago I went to my favourite LSS Scrappin’ Great Deals to get some inspiration for new Valentine’s day cards.

I found these great scrapbook tags and designed a new set of cards around them.  I’ll be sharing them with you all week.

Here’s the first one I spotted, I loved the pun (as always) and loved that it wasn’t all pink and red.

I found some of my favourite Bo Bunny paper from these baby cards and got to work.

Because the tags were meant for scrapbooking, they’re quite large and I needed something bigger than a standard A2 card, so I made these ones 5x7.

The card base is So Saffron, I colour I love, but often forget about.  An Old olive mat for the Bo Bunny paper, with a scrap of a hot pink paper I found- it matched the border on the tag very well.

I found some heart shaped brads on my last trip to Michaels, and thought they added enough Valentine vibes but weren’t too over powering.

The Bee Mine card is available online at apaperbuffet.com.  We’ve added an Express checkout so you don’t have to create an account, and you can shop in US or Canadian Dollars.

Happy Sunday!

Mini Valentines

I love all things mini. Mini cupcakes,  mini cookies, mini pies,…ok, I like mini desserts.

But I do love mini cards.  My  mini love notes are a testament to that; and I thought I’d offer a different style.

I found just enough Bo Bunny paper from last year and kept these pretty simple.

I made these business-card size, with the base Chocolate Chip- my go-to colour.  Some more Bazzil pink paper I had lying around and then a punched out heart in the same colour.

I distressed all the edges, and am really pleased with the effect.  I was worried the heart would be hard to distress and tear, but it was fine.  I don’t think I’d try it with a shape any smaller though.

I made a set of six- I think these would be great for the office or your group of close friends.  Nothing too fancy- I stamped Happy Valentine’s Day on the inside- but still a little something special.

You can find these little mini valentines in my Etsy shop –click here for a direct link.

Happy Thursday!

♪Love is in the Air…

Everywhere I look around/ Love is in the Air/ Every sight and every sound♪

Ok, I’m sorry, but I’ve literally had that song in my head for days since I’ve made this card.  I had this stamp made last year for the Boxer Short card but this year, I had something else in mind.

The stamp set is I {heart} Hearts from SU and is one of my favourites.  I turned the 3-heart stamps into balloons! I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.

The panel is actually canvas, but it didn’t stamp that well, so I stamped again on Whisper White and cut them out.

I took some basic white string and adhered them to the back to resemble balloons and popped them up on pop-dots.

Used some of my favourite Bo Bunny paper from last year…at least I think it’s Bo Bunny… the card base is Very Vanilla (WW was too stark with the dp), Pretty in Pink and some Bazzil Pink I had left over from last year.  The pink ribbon was part of a Christmas gift I received from a fellow paper crafter (Thanks Dorinda!).  Everything is inked up in Regal Rose- this card is PINK!

This card is available online- click here to purchase from my Etsy store… but be quick! I only made one!  I’m likely to make more with this concept (because the song is still in my head) but this pink paper is all gone.

Happy Monday!

Saturday Morning Breakfast: Cinnamon chip and Pecan Pancakes

Weekends mean I can stray from my usual oatmeal breakfast. I recently found some cinnamon chips and love adding them to...well everything.

As I reached for the cinnamon chips this morning, a little bag of chopped pecans fell out if the cupboard. Why not?

They were delicious!

What do you add to your pancakes?

Happy Saturday!

Happy New Year!

I can’t believe how fast this past year has gone.  I’ve been lucky enough to have taken many trips- the highlight was most definitely my trip to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

I saw two of my high school friends get married, and another welcome her first baby.

It was also a successful year for A Paper Buffet, making some great local connections.

I want to thank you all for your continued support and I can’t wait to see what 2011 has in store for us!

I’m busy working on some Valentine’s items and working on a new line that I hope to introduce to you soon.

Cheers to a happy, safe and successful 2011!
