Thank you’s; bookmarks; and more candy to the Pizza Box

You may have noticed I’ve been very quiet this week…and that’s because I caught the flu.  I have no idea if it’s swine flu, nor will I ever know because I didn’t go to the doctor.  The doctor’s offices/emergency rooms ask you to stay home, so that’s what I did.   I had three days off of work and I’m just starting to feel better.  I don’t think I’ll get as much done this weekend as I’d hoped, but that’s ok.

love triangle 1 I do want to say thank you for all the lovely comments about my bookmarks for the TTIC anniversary blog hop.  The bookmarks are available in my Etsy store and I plan on be making more.  I just finished a custom bookmark for a customer and I have a feeling, it will be a regular addition in the next few days.

I do plan on doing the hop, I just need some more time. lol. Congrats to all the winners!

Today is the last day to enter my “ Friends + Stamps = Bliss” blog candy and I do have one more addition to the Pizza Box.

blogcandy1

Here are 4 more sheets of 6x6 We R Memory Keepers double sided paper.  This pattern is called “Explore- Rucksak” and coordinates with the other sheets of paper already in the box.

If you’re just joining- good timing!

Here are the rules:

  • Comment on the original post to be included in the Blog Candy; click HERE to go to the OP
  • Add a link to your blog and get a second entry
  • You can tell me a story if you like- have you ever met a bloggy friend in real life?
  • That’s it!

Candy will be open until midnight tonight (EST) and the winner will be picked by a random number generator.  I’ll post the winner tomorrow.

Happy Saturday and Happy Halloween

TwilightTuesday.com 1 yr Anniversary Blog Hop: The Love Triangle

Oh My Edward! Can you believe it’s been one entire year of Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenges?

You should have come from Juanita's blog; if not, please go to TwilightTuesday.com to start the hop so you don’t miss all the fun!

I chose The Love Triangle as my project topic. I haven’t participated in nearly enough challenges in the past few months, so I’m hoping this makes up for lost time.

I’ve been very thankful for the success of my Twilight Inspired bookmarks in my Etsy store, and have been wanting to add some new designs. This topic was the perfect thing to get my mojo flowin’!

love triangle 1

I used Beth’s/ Stamp Insanity Stamps Otherworldly Loves set to create this trifecta of bookmarks.

If you’ll compare these to my other bookmarks, the design is strikingly linear. I wanted to keep it this way because, to Edward and Jacob, the choice Bella has to make is clear and straightforward… “Pick Me!”. The linear design is reflective of this.

fangs1

Fangs2Edward’s bookmark keeps the black/red/white we’ve come to associate with Twilight. I used some Candy Cane stickles and liquid pearl for the lips and teeth, respectively.

fur3

fur4Jake’s bookmark uses SU Chocolate Chip and SU Kraft paper. The sentiment is from Otherworldly Loves, however the paw image is from a set I had made. I used some Stampendous Fun Flock on the word “Fur” as I have with my other Jacob bookmark.

bella3

Bella’s bookmark was harder for me to design, and I settled on this one. I wanted to represent that Bella needs both Jacob and Edward in her life for different reasons, and they both occupy her heart.

Now keep hopping and head on over to Lisa J's blog for some more Twilight Tuesday Inspiration!

Widlflower Kids Rubber Stamps- Digital Holiday release!

Hiya!
I hope you had a great weekend, I'm on the road today (so forgive the layout, I'm working in blogger and it's a timed post); I was at home celebrating the wedding of a childhood friend. It was a large Italian wedding, a great party and LOTS of yummy food! Tonight I'll be attending a Gala event in Toronto, a performance of a 250-children orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.

But for right now, it's time for another release from the Wildflower Kids Rubber Stamps and Jen has outdone herself with these adorable digital holiday releases!

Here's my project for this week:

I love the ability to resize the digital images, and decided to make them a bit larger and make a gift tag out of them.
I also got to use my Angle Wings Shimmerz I bought from Tonya at Stamp Happens....I had to hold myself back not to put Shimmerz on everything!

Here's another picture that shows the Shimmerz on the white parts of the candy cane a bit better. If I adjust the lighting, it's much to over exposed, so it is a bit dark.

I used prismas to colour the red parts, and blended with OMS. I've noticed that my printer ink doesn't smear with OMS like it does with other blending mediums (baby oil and goo be gone), and even with watercolouring. I watercoloured the bow with SU Old Olive, which I will be using a lot this holiday season; it's my favourite shade of green. I punched the wrong size hole for ribbon, so I'll use some twine to tie it to the gift.

Want to see the rest of the digital images?
Hop on over to the sidebar and check out the design team's projects for some inspiration.

Then, get your shopping shoes on and head on over to Stamp Happens to download the digital holiday images and you can start creating IMMEDIATELY! (that's the other great part about digis....no waiting!)

Happy Monday!
Ciao for now,

(ps) make sure to come back tomorrow for the TwilightTuesday.com anniversary blog hop!!

Adding more Blog Candy to the Pizza Box! This is good; tell your friends!

I'm trying to make up for being a bit silent here this past week...work's been busy and I'm now at my parent's house, in my hometown for a friend's wedding this weekend.

I'm adding 3, (yes, I said 3!) mini holiday stamp sets from Studio G. I'm telling everyone right now, because if I don't, these adorable little sets would live with me forever and ever ;)

Here's a close up look at the mini sets:

A cute little star, some sentiments and a very adorable present border

This might just be the cutest one...Reindeer tracks!

And of course, one of my favourite holiday images...snowflakes!

I do have a few more goodies to add, so keep your eyes out for more additions next week.

Here are the rules, in case you're just joining

  • Comment on the original post to enter; you can tell me if you've ever met some online bloggy/stamping friends; click HERE for the original post and to comment with your number
  • Add a link to my blog candy on your blog and let me know...you'll get a second entry
  • Blog candy is open until October 31st (midnight EST). Winner will be chosen on Nov 1st, using a random number generator

I'll be back next week with a new digi release from Wildflower Kids Stamps, the Twilight Tuesday Anniversary Blog hop, and of course...more blog candy!!

Happy Friday!

Gobble Gobble!

Thankful3

Perhaps this is terrible timing, with the recent  H1N1 outbreak in turkeys…but what can you do?

I had a day off today to attend some appointments, and was looking forward to a day of stamping.  However, Fate had another plan for me today.

I went to (finally!) reinstall my printer today, and as I plugged the USB cable in, my mouse and keyboard ceased to function. This happened last week, for 3 days, but I plugged in my work keyboard and a spare mouse.  A few days rest for the entire computer and they were back up and running.  Not the case today.  After muttering a few choice words in Italian,  I hopped in the car and bought a new keyboard and mouse.  I went wireless again, which goes against a lot of market research, but I’m hopelessly addicted to my Microsoft keyboard functions built into the keyboard…programmable favourite buttons, media player controls, one touch email… and a corded keyboard is hard to find these days!

So needless to say, the time I wanted to spend stamping, was spent finding, purchasing, and installing my new keyboard.   It’s a split keyboard, so the jury is still out on if I’ll be able to adapt or not.

wfkbadgeI did manage to get some stamping done and catch up on using the Wild Flower Kids Stamps Autumn Splendour digital release.

I just loved this little turkey so much, I printed him in two sizes on SU Very Vanilla Cardstock and coloured him with my prisma pencils and some Gamsol I got from Tonya at Stamp Happens (I love! that applicator bottle!)

Turkey1

I’m on the Kraft cardstock bandwagon again, and kept this card really simple.  I used my Score-Pal to make the frame, and then added my cut out image to the centre, some SU Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon,…eh voila!

I actually printed two turkey’s Turkey3the same size and cut out the body, and popped it up on dimensionals, here’s a close up:

For my second card, I used a favourite layout…I think it may have come from the Clean and Simple blog, but I’m really not sure.  I will be using this layout again and again!

Thankful2

Thankful3This little turkey is printed out a bit smaller than my card #1, but I used the same colours and the same effect; cutting out the body on a second image and popping up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is also from the Autumn Splendour set, and perfect for Thanksgiving, but can be used for every day life too!

I apologize if the pictures are a bit dark…I’ve misplaced all the registration info for PS Elements and can’t find the Serial Number…so I’m stuck using Picassa until I figure out a backup plan.

Happy Tuesday!

Friends + Stamps = Bliss! and BLOG CANDY!

One of our Stampin Sistahs assignments is to use the Stamp Insanity Stamps for an ABC- Anything But a Card.

If you’ve been following me along for a while, you’ll know I love to make the mini pizza boxes from SCS.  I thought this was a perfect project for my ABC, I just had to choose which of the lovely Stamp Insanity Stamps I was going to pick!

I chose a sentiment from the Meet Morgan and Henry set and available exclusively at Stamp Happens.

This is a great set for any stamper to have, there are so many incredibly useful sentiments!

So here is my pizza box Pizzabox1

I wanted to use fall colours, but I think it ended up looking a little Christmasy instead…oh well!

I used SU Chocolate Chip for the box and American Craft cardstock and DP for the rest.  The sentiment is inked in SU Old Olive.

Pizzabox2

Here’s a close up…how true!

So, now to the important part…the CANDY!

To celebrate the wonderful friends I have made through stamping, I’m going to offer up some blog candy.  Over the next few weeks, until October 31st, I will be filling this pizza box with some goodies and it will be the Candy prize.

My first addition…well, it doesn’t even fit in the box!

(4) 6X6 We R Memory Keepers “Explore Hubcaps” double sided paper.DSC09828-1 On the back is a great circle pattern in coordinating colours:

Meet Me at Merlottes

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

I’m back in London and trying to get my computer back up and running. I found out today, that my backup of my files before I reformatted didn’t work. Ugh. So it’s going to take me a bit longer than I had hoped. Ultimately, I think programming Live Writer with all my auto links is going to take me the longest! Don’t you just love technology?

I’d like to share with you a birthday card I made for Tonya a few weeks ago. I used the Otherwordly Loves, one of the premier releases from Stamp Insanity Stamps and available exclusively at Stamp Happens.

For those fans of the HBO True Blood series, you’ll recognize both the sentiment, as well as the picture.

I took this picture while in Hollywood, taking the tour of the Warner Bros. studio. This is THE cabin that is used for the outdoor shots of Merlottes’ Bar and Grill, and has also been used for scenes in The Mentalist.

I used some TH distress inks and some chalk to add some roughness to the photo and papers.

For the inside, I used a GinaK Company “Happy Birthday” sentiment, then picked up the Stamp Insanity Stamps Otherwordly Loves set again and stamped “Fangbanger” in Red ink.

Again from the same set, I added the lips/fangs in the corner. This set can do so much!

Here’s a close up of the mouth…I added some Candy Cane Stickles from Tonya for the lips and added liquid pearls to the teeth…with some more red stickles on the tips of the fangs for good measure!

Head on over to Stamp Happens to pick up your set…the Halloween Stamp Insanity Stamps are on sale, it’s perfect timing!

Happy Tuesday!

We now return to our reguarly scheduled programming

Hi folks!
Well, it's been pretty quiet around here for a few reasons 1) main computer had a corrupt registry and I had to wait for the manufacturer to send me the backup disks so I could reformat it. Big thanks to C (Ethan's dad) for walking me through the process! and 2) a very busy work week with quite a bit of travel and overnight trips.

With the home/main computer up and running,...almost; I'm still one-by-one reloading the printer, and specific programs I had on there I should be back to regular posting next week.

I had planned to fool you and resume posting this past Thursday, but it's Canadian Thanksgiving and as I was on the train about to start up the laptop to write my post...I realized my jump drive with all my project pictures was safely sitting on my desk in London.

I'm at my parents' house now; yesterday my sister and I made the typically 4 hour drive up...and it became a 7 hour drive. We lamented over the odometer which told us in a measly 4 hours we had traveled an even more measly 160 km. That's an average of 40 km/hr. A permanent school zone.

A combination of sheer volume of traffic, and an unsightly accident (it appeared no one was seriously hurt, but my theory is a trailer with 2 kayaks and 2 canoes unhooked from the RV that was towing it and rolled into a Mazda 3, which was then subsequently rear ended. Canoes and kayaks all over a 4 lane highway) created the delays.

Onto the update: I've got some projects to share with you next week when I get back to London and my supplies for my Christmas cards have arrived, so I'll be designing this weekend, and starting production next weekend!

To my Canadian bloggers- Happy Thanksgiving!
To all my bloggers Happy Saturday!

ps- Good luck in your first race tomorrow Mau!

Bah! Technology

Just a quick note to let you know I'm having computer troubles, AGAIN! My home computer is suffering from a corrupt registry. I'm trying to resolve the issue without having to bring it in, but since computers come preloaded when you buy them now, I don't have a recovery disk...
I'm doing my best do get this resolved quickly, but it might be quiet around here since I'll have to use my laptop.

On the other hand, this weekend is Homecoming, and I'm looking forward to forgetting my computer troubles and enjoying the big football game tomorrow afternoon! The halftime show this year is the Canadian Military Skyhawks jumping team...which I think means parachuting, but I'm not sure! And as always, our 28 time National Championship Cheerleading team is always exciting to watch...they win American competitions, which is saying something because Cheerleading is much bigger in the States that it is here.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

Come have dinner with the Wild Flower Kids!

Yes, I know they’re stamps, but just give me a minute to explain.

Today marks the 2nd release of Wild Flower Kids Rubber Stamp company AND their 1st digital release of Violet and friends! Today’s release is all about autumn.  The leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping, and it’s time to give thanks.

I’ve invited the Wild Flower Kids to the table; well, really to help organize the seating arrangements.

That’s right folks- place cards!

The wonderful thing about digital stamps is that you can resize them for any project.  Rye is dressed in his Pilgrim best and measures 3.83” tall; he’s attached to a 3 1/4” wide by 2” high place card.  I used a tiny leaf stamp in the corner and distressed the edges with TH Tea Dye ink.

Rye is coloured with Prismas and baby oil, and since his outfit is basic black and white, I snazzed it up a bit by embossing his belt buckle, his shoes (and his hat buckle which you can’t see) with gold embossing powder.

Violet has also marked her place; I chose shades of pink for Violet’s dress and kept her apron and shirt white.

The same leaf stamp and distressing was used on her card; Violet is also about 3.8” tall.

Isn’t she cute? All nice and rosy!

And last but not least (there are more images in the set, I just chose the main 3 to work with for this project) is my personal favourite Bramble.

Bramble was so much fun to colour!  It was nice to make him bright and cheery.

Bramble is also coloured with Prismas and baby oil; I think I’m starting to get the hang of this colouring thing!

So now that you’ve gotten some inspiration, hop along to see the rest of the DT creations, then over to Stamp Happens to get your digi Wildflower Kids stamps and you can be creating in about…well, as fast as your little fingers can type you over there!
